How to focus on what matters.

Last year my priorities were out of line. I felt like my world was spinning out of control. I was operating from a place of "busyness" but not intentionality. I was helping to lead a nonprofit, writing & launching a book, starting a business, and learning how to be a wife all at the same time. It was utter chaos. So I had to take a step back & really just surrender my heart and plans to God. He showed up & now I'm living out of a much more still, full, and intentional place. Part of this process was getting a grip on my schedule & prioritizing what mattered the most to me.
Working, caring for your family, volunteering, making time for friendships, staying healthy, and a whole lot more can compete for top priority. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, meaning it’s not about how much time you have, but how well you can manage that time.
Identifying the most important tasks of the day, month, or year can profoundly impact how effectively you reach your goals.
Learning to say “yes” to the right things and “no” to the wrong things is key. This is why I love the “Start, Stop, Pause” method!
Start, Stop, Pause is a time management technique that will help you prioritize your responsibilities.
Want to try it out? Grab a notebook and pen, and follow the 3 steps below.
Start: What 1 thing can you start doing today?
Example: I will start waking up at 6:00am.
Stop: What 1 thing are you committed to stopping altogether?
Example: I will stop scrolling on Facebook after 9:00pm.
Pause: What 1 thing can you put on pause or wait on today?
Example: I will wait on going to coffee with my friend until clean out my closet.
After you’ve identified one thing in each category, put it into practice. The choices you make today can directly influence your future. Being diligent and intentional in the small things will show you how you’ll handle the big things.
