It gets the best of us all at one time or another - stress at work.
If you're anything like me, the stress creeps up slowly. Then, seemingly out of nowhere I'm exhausted on my couch, crying on the phone with a friend, or snapping at my husband because the stress has fully invaded my life.
To be the women God created us to be, we've got to shake the stress off.
We've got to find healthy ways to let it all go.
Listen, I know it's not easy. I'm still finding new ways to deal with my stress, but we've got to start somewhere! Taking action & dealing with your stress is the only way to change.
Check out these 5 ways to decrease stress & increase mindfulness at work.
1. Take short breaks
When you're stressed at work, one of the most impactful ways to de-stress is to take short breaks. Every 90 minutes consider taking a 10-15 minute break to refresh your mind. Think about taking a walk, chatting with a co-worker, grabbing a cup of tea, or stretching in the break room.
2. Prioritize your schedule
Stress can cause you to lose focus. It's important to prioritize what needs to get accomplished in order to be successful and decrease your sense of overwhelm. Use a project management tool like Trello or Evernote to keep track of your projects, thoughts, and ideas.
3. Get accountability
One of the best ways to decrease stress is to share how you're feeling with a trusted friend and ask for support as you learn to manage your stress. Call a friend or invite a co-worker to coffee and ask them to check in on you and your progress as you navigate the waters of your stressful work situation.
4. Prioritize your health
Don't let your health slide when you're under stress. Prioritizing your health can be one of the most important factors to keep your stress levels low. Schedule in your favorite pilates class, head out for a 2 mile run after a long day of work, or pack healthy lunches to keep your mind healthy.
5. Schedule in rest outside of work
Scheduling in time to rest can be very impactful. We all need rest, especially when we're stressed. Rest can look different for every person. Maybe you like to take bubble baths, go for long walks with your dog, or read a novel before going to bed.
